FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE (US 1926; 63 min)
by Sam Taylor with Harold Lloyd
Musical Accompaniment: Zerorchestra conducted by Oscar Marchioni

Contemporary reviews were unanimously positive. The Film Daily, in April 1926, wrote: "Here's Lloyd in another one that looks like a box-office wow. Funny gags, fast pace and startling shots. All set for a money picture."
At the heart of For Heaven's Sake is a colourful cast of benefactors, thieves, drunkards, and brawlers, brought to life by some of the finest character actors working in Hollywood at the time. Packed with gags and chases, the film not only delighted audiences but also satisfied theatre owners. For Heaven's Sake stands out for its search for original technical and stylistic solutions, with unexpected and unusual points of view (the camera sunk into a pit in the middle of the road, capturing the fleeing cyclist chased by the bus); the wild camera-car shots of the breathless final race against time are undoubtedly one of the film's stylistic hallmarks.
