COSTUME DESIGN AND SILENT CINEMA
UCLA David C. Copley Center Lecture

2022 saw the launch of an annual lecture series devoted to costume design in silent film conceived by Deborah Nadoolman Landis, noted costume designer, historian, and Director of the David C. Copley Center for Costume Design at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television. The series explores one of the least-studied aspects of silent cinema and reclaims the fundamental role the art of costume design played in cinematic storytelling before the advent of sound.
