DISCOVERING FRIULI VENEZIA GIULIA’S TREASURES
For its 45th edition, the Pordenone Silent Film Festival once again invites you to explore the wonders of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Not just cinema, but a 360-degree experience that combines a passion for the seventh art with the discovery of the region’s rich historical, artistic, and food-and-wine heritage.
Thanks to our well-established partnership with the Regional Department of Tourism of Friuli Venezia Giulia, PromoturismoFVG and ATAP, the public transport company of Pordenone, we are pleased to offer two exclusive excursions. Following the success of past editions - when we visited Udine, Trieste, Gorizia, Cividale, and the places linked to Pasolini and the masters of the Friulian Renaissance - this year we’ll journey to two destinations of extraordinary charm: Aquileia and Monfalcone and Grado.

1. Aquileia: A Treasure Trove of Roman History and Early Christian Splendors
Tuesday 6th October 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.
A complete immersion into the glorious past of Aquileia, one of the largest and wealthiest cities of the Roman Empire, now a UNESCO World Heritage site and an archaeological treasure of inestimable value. We will begin our day with a guided tour of the majestic Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, a spiritual and cultural center of primary importance. You will be enchanted by its extraordinary 4th-century mosaic floor, the largest and most spectacular in the Western Christian world, which narrates biblical stories and early Christian allegories with vivid realism.
After a break dedicated to local flavors, our exploration will continue in the afternoon at the National Archaeological Museum. Accompanied by our guide, we will discover one of the most important Roman-era collections in Italy, admiring splendid stone portraits, refined coloured glassware, engraved gems, and artefacts that tell the daily life of this ancient Mediterranean metropolis.
Day’s schedule:
● 8:30 a.m.: Departure by bus from Pordenone (Viale Dante 11 - Cagliari Driving School).

2. Monfalcone and Grado: Industrial Archaeology and Lagoon Charm
Friday 9th October 2026, from 8:45 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
A fascinating journey combining the great history of the 20th century with maritime relaxation. We will begin our day in Monfalcone to discover the MuCa (Shipbuilding Museum), the only Italian museum dedicated to the history of shipbuilding. Located in the Panzano company town, a true "model neighborhood" of the last century, the museum offers a multimedia and immersive path showcasing the industrial, technological, and social evolution of the area where the giants of the sea were - and still are - born.
We will then move to Grado, the beautiful "Sun Island." Once the port of nearby Aquileia and a refuge for patriarchs, Grado now welcomes visitors with its enchanting Venetian-style historic center, a network of winding alleys, picturesque squares, and ancient early Christian basilicas.
Day’s schedule:
● 8:45 a.m.: Departure by bus from Pordenone (Viale Dante 11 - Cagliari Driving School).
● Morning: Arrival in Monfalcone and at 11:00 am guided multimedia tour of MuCa.
● Lunch 1:00 p.m.: Transfer to Grado and lunch at Ristorante Agli Artisti
● Afternoon: Free time to explore the island, walk along the promenade, or enjoy shopping in the narrow streets.
● 4:00 p.m.: Departure for the return journey.
● 5:45 p.m.: Expected arrival in Pordenone.
Cost: € 49 per person (€ 39 for Donors)
(includes bus travel, admission and guide to MuCa, traditional lunch).
